🆃🅷🅴 🅸🅽🅽🅴🆁 🅲🅸🆁🅲🅻🅴: Parties & Take Overs

An indie author support network

Hey guys!

Today I figured we would tackle parties and take overs after talking with a few fellow authors still totally trying to figure out the ins and outs of what either truly mean.

Like anything in this industry it truly is what works for you. Some authors don't find them beneficial and others, like myself, think they boost your presence and makes finding your readers SO much easier.

So parties and take overs can be incredibly helpful to an author in expanding their reach, presence and finding new readers but a lot of us still don't feel like we know what we're doing. In this week's Inner Circle discussion we will explore everything parties and take overs. ✔ How to network and get fellow authors to sign up ✔ Where to have one ✔ Which is best for you ✔ What to expect So parties are incredibly different in comparison to take overs. Let's break it down which is which just in case someone doesn't know. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 is you, solo, dropping into a group or reader's group sharing what you are all about. Kandi Steiner does something called Take Over Tuesday on her IG page's story feature. While 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 are normally centered-around a release, multi author and normally in a PR's group page with a bigger audience.

Here is what I have personally learned to be good references and normally my own check list I work off of: 𝙿𝚁𝙴-𝙿𝙰𝚁𝚃𝚈/𝚃𝙰𝙺𝙴 𝙾𝚅𝙴𝚁: 𝟏. 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭 ✔ PR Groups Examples: Kandi Kane, 1-Click Addict Support Group by Give Me Books, BestSellers & BestStellars Party Room, Dirty Little Secret Book Club, SISTERS GET LIT(ERARY), LJ Shen's Party People, Romance After Dark, etc. ✔ Reader's Groups 𝟐. 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞 ✔ Chose the time slots length, typically 15 mins. - 30 mins. 𝟑. 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐮𝐩𝐬 ✔ Free to create with a Google account Mine as an example of format: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WUCtj4APA4wZ8asss7VT6L3k5JhZSKWpoMpzVMt_4bA/edit?usp=sharing 𝟒. 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬 ✔ Direct email is the easiest way to get a hold of an author I've found in my experience. Social platforms can hide messages or get buried. ✔ Reach out to PAs ✔ Social platforms ✔ Reach out to more people than you need, not everyone will be a yes ✔ Post the invite on author pages such as Alessandra Torre Inkers Friendly Friday thread Now that we have the basics down of parties and take overs now we can jump into what you can actually expect or need when doing either! 𝙿𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚒𝚎𝚜 & 𝚃𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝙾𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚜 (𝚊𝚜 𝚑𝚘𝚜𝚝): ✔ Universal links for your books and links for yourself (books2read is free to use) ✔ Graphics to promote your book ✔ Giveaway(s): these aren't optional. ✔ It's supposed to be fun so have a game in your back pocket or a way to get to know people deeper than promoting

𝙿𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚒𝚎𝚜 (𝚊𝚜 𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚗𝚍𝚎𝚎): ✔ Giveaway(s) ✔ Gather the author's links you may need like GoodReads, FB, etc. ✔ Their book cover or graphics 𝐏𝐑𝐎-𝐓𝐈𝐏: Keep all your links and introduction in a Google document, word doc or email so you can switch out simple things so it's ready to go for your next event.

Share your party fails or take over triumphs.

Share your experiences.

Share what down falls you've had so we can all learn from it.
